Illustration & art work
My name is Mick Dekker, I am a Dutch/French illustrator who studies at the HKU in Utrecht, but grew up and is based in the French Alps.
Eclecticism is my motto. Illustration is a giant playground where I am free to shape the elements as I please.
This way, I constantly develop new ideas and create new experiences. I like to let myself be guided by my feelings and let my free hand run to his imagination.
My work is intuitive, sometimes naive, but always with an emotional dimension to touch and bring people together. This process leads me to discoveries that seek to surprise me and also others. I mainly use analog drawing techniques; in this way, we keep a link between the public and the artist. By observing each line or stroke of paint, I have the feeling of looking straight into the artist's soul and being able to go back in time. It is this feeling that I want to share.
Besides my great fascination for the human figure, nothing stops me; I can illustrate scenes and landscapes or dive into my fantasy and start experimenting. The same goes for the materials; I use all the possibilities available to me.
Everything can be a source of inspiration and give me new ideas to create new experiences and perspectives for my audience.
